The Incantation of Casanova
|
Tonight's play is the second in the trilogy about men and magic. Casanova, the hero, is perhaps best known for his amorous exploits, but he also had an interest in magic. Unlike the hero of the play, Casanova professed a total cynicism about magic and studied it only with the intentions of exploiting the credulity of his fellow men - and women. Playing the most famous lover of all time is Jeremy Brett, seen recently on BBC TV in The Three Musketeers and now giving a highly praised performance as Orlando in the National Theatre's all-male production of As You Like It. Also featured (as Don Antonio Capitani) is Geoffrey Bayldon, who can at present be seen in the film To Sir With Love. Radio Times Sunday 22nd October 1967
